Hello! My name is Yeon (Yeonkyeong) Kang and I’m currently an undergraduate student at the School of Visual Effects of Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I am continuing my study of CG with great passion for 3D look development and lighting. My inspiration comes from illustrations, all kinds of animated films, and professional photography.

1. Monkey: Look development and texturing for the one of main characters in the shot animated film “Wishing Box”. Used Vray fur on Monkey’s fur. Rendered using Vray and textured in Mari.
2. Sink: Shading and texturing for the one of main assets in the short animated film “The Knob”. Rendered using both Vray and textured in Mudbox.
3. Geometry Change with Maps: Made different kinds of shape using vector displacement map and transparency map, without changing base model; basic sphere. Textured and Sculpted in Mudbox. Rendered using Vray.
5,7. Soar Shots: Lighting and compositing for hero shots in the short animated film “Soar”. Lit the environment set. Animated revealing stars and the environment lighting. Rendered using Vray, and composed in Nuke.
6. Blue Cave: Lit the entire environment, matching with the original concept art. Rendered using Vray, and composed in Nuke.

The CG Student Awards - People's Choice Award is open to all entrants. This prestigous category is voted by the general public, not the judging panel. It gives everyone a voice, and allows for an open discussion of all the amazing entries submitted to the Awards.
