Xingjian Wu

China,  Shanghai School of Visual Arts,  Compositing,  May 04, 2014
Xingjian (Jason) Wu’s Rock Got Cancer (2014) is a short film, which combines 3D animation and live action footage to create a hyperreal world in which a simple rock can develop cancer. This concept reflects Wu’s interest in “Impossible Objects” and then applies it theoretically via convincing visual effects to examine a hypothetical situation. Through masterful post-production, Rock Got Cancer shows what would happen if inanimate objects could function similar to living organisms – moving, flying and suffering the effects of a devastating disease.
