Tuna Unalan

United States,  New York Savannah College of Art and Design,  Visual Effects / Technical Direction,  November 22, 2014
My name is Tuna Unalan and I am a recent graduate from Savannah College of Art and Design. I was born and raised in Turkey then I moved to the United States in 2008. I am a CG Generalist, however, I am starting to specialize in Lighting one project at a time. I think Lighters hold a great power over their audience because we help them feel certain emotions and can deeply affect their mood through light as well as color. Lighting sometimes makes you understand or feel so many amazing things that are harder to explain with words...

Astrolabe - This project was about executing cool colors to create a lonely and calm mood. I wanted to get away from using warm and saturated colors. I started this project with modeling the Astrolabe first. I knew I wanted to do something that involved this object because I thought it looked very complex and interesting, perhaps a little mysterious too. So, with a little inspiration from bad weather, I decided to put the piece on a window corner and use an over cast lighting. I used Maya, V-Ray for rendering, Mari for texture painting, ZBrush for sculpting the rocks/modeling the Astrolabe and Nuke for compositing. - Responsible of all aspects.

Abandoned Train - This project was done for the CG Lighting Challenge by CG Society. The train interior model was provided to us and I wanted to take it one step further by adding an organic environment to create the idea of Man vs Nature. I used Maya, V-Ray for rendering, Mari for texture painting and Nuke for compositing.

The Jaw - The idea was to create a pleasant scene with a sick twist by adding something unpleasant. This project was done when I was trying to learn how to use V-Ray. It was rendered in Maya, V-Ray, Photoshop for texture painting and Nuke for compositing. - Responsible for all aspects except for the Jaw model set.

Berries - This is a WIP project as I am exploring the SSS shader for berries. So far, so good. - Responsible for all aspects.

Jasper Dragons - This project was done for a Lighting/Technical Direction class at SCAD. I used RenderMan for rendering, Mari for texture painting and Nuke for compositing. - Responsible for Stanford Dragon Texturing, Shading, Lighting and Compositing.
