Shaun Ryan Casey

New Zealand,  Invercargill Southern Institute of Technology,  Bachelor of Digital Media (animation),  November 11, 2015
Hi i'm Shaun Casey, i'm from Invercargill New Zealand and currently studying at the Southern Institute of Technology (SIT). This is my 3rd year studying animation and design, before studying for the degree i had no prior experience in art, design or animation. Since 2013 I have been spending my time working on 2D, 3D and composited films and animations both in solo and group projects. Currently this year i'm creating my end of year film which will have backgrounds modeled in maya then have 2d characters and elements designed over top the 3D composition. My other projects include a group project which is filmed live action with visual effects composited in, my roles in the project are pre-vis, visual effects lighting and compositin, the other is a 24 page comic.

The scenes with the man on the couch and the breaking news scenes are from my composited film, the scenes with the man have him rotoscoped and compositied into a 3d environment and the breaking news scene is just a small 2d element. The scenes with the 2 temples are a fly-through of a 3D scene in which i used an HDR map to light the scene. The scene with the white alien creature was my first attempt at 3D modelling, lighting, rigging, texturing and animation and the 3D man jogging is a cloth simulation. The music was from free music archive.
