United States,  Chico California State University, Chico,  APCG 420 Digital Lighting and Texturing ,  December 16, 2015
Hello my name is Ryan Nolan-Hieb. I am currently a student at Chico State studying computer graphics. I'm specializing in scene layout, lighting, shading, and compositing. Over the years I’ve really been drawn to doing environment art. So as you will see the majority of my work is geared towards that. Hope you enjoy, and thanks for looking.

As a side note, my Reel looks much better in HD if you watch directly on Vimeo.

All of the scenes in my demo reel were done by me. There are no group projects in this reel.

Forest Environment (0:02-0:22): I just completed this scene this semester. Primary software used was Maya. I modeled and textured the terrain. Created custom scripts. I set up all the Mental Ray shaders for every object in the scene. Lighting and layout were done by me as well. Water VFX and other particle based VFX were done in Maya. The scene was rendered in Mental Ray, and then composited in Nuke. It took roughly 3 months to complete.

Lighthouse Environment (0:23-0:33): Everything in this scene, except for the modeling was done by me. The rain was created with Maya particles and the water was done with Maya Ocean. Composting was done in Nuke. The scene took roughly 4 weeks to complete.

All still images (0:34-0:38) (0:39-0:44) (0:57-1:01) (1:03-1:06): For all of these the primary software used was Vue. Mudbox was also used in some of the scenes. Textures, Lighting, and scene layout were done by me. Compositing and some paint over work was done in Photoshop.

Character (0:45-0:56): The character in this scene was modeled, and textured by me. The scene layout, environment, shader, and lighting were done by me as well. Composited in Nuke. Took roughly 3 weeks to complete.
