Media Design School,
Bachelor of Art & Design (Visual Effects & 3D Animation),
November 28, 2014
My name is Nic Roodt and I have recently completed a Bachelor of 3D Art & Design (Visual Effects & 3D Animation) at Media Design School in Auckland, New Zealand.
I specialize in 3D animation of all types and styles, but I also have a broad range of generalist knowledge and skills.
In my final year I was part of two team productions, a short film (Fawn) and a web series (Shelved) in which I worked primarily as an animator.
During Shelved, I was solely responsible for several shots to animate for one of the stunt sequences, a sequence including the robotic characters Beano and Craig on a pogostick.
During Fawn, I was one of two Animators responsible for the character animation throughout our film. I also worked with the other team members during the story development, pre-visualization, look development and music production stages. This allowed me to experience the time constraint pressures and get a taste of what a production demands in terms of commitment. From this I learned I work best under pressure with more than one task to complete, and relish the idea of working with a professional team or leading a team of my own.
I have learnt so much in such a short time, but I know there is always going to be so much more to learn and my skills will only improve with experience. I look forward to the chance to prove myself.
