I am a surfacing/lighting artist studying Visual Effects at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
I have always been fascinated by the harmony of light and color, and the materials that make up everything around us.
I love having storytelling aspects behind the art that I create, and I enjoy creating beautiful images.

Shot Breakdown:

1. Pancake Series
All aspects except modeling of full strawberries
Maya, Vray, Zbrush, Nuke X, Mari, Photoshop

Inspired by Ratatouille and food photography book, Plate to Pixel by Helen Dujardin, I decided to make a series of pancakes in different settings. Most of the textures were done in Mari while Vray was used for shading, lighting, and rendering. Both photo projections and hand drawn texture were used.

2. Vintage Kitchen in the late 1800s
All aspects except smoke (smoke done by Tyler Britton)
Maya, Mari, Nuke X, Photoshop

I wanted to create a warm countryside kitchen that represents the era of late 1800s to early 1900s which is very different from today's modern kitchen. I loved texturing different materials including cast iron, copper, brass, and wood. All of the objects are based on real 1800s kitchen.

3. Prop Turntable
All aspects
Maya (mental ray and RenderMan), Mari, Nuke X, Photoshop

A turntable of some of the props including ones in the vintage kitchen to check my textures and see how they react with change in light. The only lighting in the scene are neutral HDRI and one keylight. All of the objects were taken from real life references based on the pictures that I took.

4. Teapot Set
All aspects
RenderMan Scene Description Language (rib), Photoshop

Inspired by blue unique patterns of a French kitchen, I created a teapot set on a kitchen counter. All aspects including modeling, texturing, shading were scripted using Pixar's Renderman scene description (rib) protocol. I had to write the rib files and convert textures to readable .tex files.

5. Little Wonderland
All aspects
Maya, Renderman, Nuke X, Mari, Photoshop

With Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz in mind, I created a teacup house with furniture. This is a portrayal of an imaginary space where magical things happen when no one is around. The idea came from my childhood when I used to think that furniture would fly when the door was closed behind me.

6. Wooden duck toys
All aspects
Maya, Mari, Nuke X

The project was to create and animate CG objects in the photographed background. The ducks are animated and composited with elements such as reflection and bounce light. The key component is the accurate light integration through the use of light and compositing techniques.
