With a huge passion for animation and a love of cinematography, my goal is to work as a pre-visualisation artist or animator for games or live action films. My main skills include hand animation, motion capture and cinematography. ‘The Comparison Project’ aims to subjectively compare two different pipelines available in producing animation, motion capture and hand keyed animation from a creative perspective. Skateboarding was used as a focus for these comparisons as the movements are fast, exhibit fine balance and use a prop that moves in a complex manner. My projectalso aims to identify the pros and cons on the two methods, showing if hand animation, motion capture, or a hybrid method is best. Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Motion Builder and Cortex from Motion Analysis Corporation were used to complete the project.
