After being undecided for 1.5 years of college, I decided to enroll in the digital media program at our local university. Since then I have loved visual effects and tried to learn as much as possible. I like doing compositing and want to work in VFX studio to further my skills and grow as an artist.

The first scene is a full CG matte painting. I started with a base photograph that I cleaned up and added details in Photoshop. I then modeled the buildings in Maya and brought the Geo in to for more control during the compositing phase. Because of the complexity of the buildings and the parallax between the buildings there are 40-50 layers of projected images and geometry. I then simulated the snow and smoke using nParticles and Maya fluids, respectively. I added little details like CG cars driving on the roads to make the scene come alive. The camera was tracked in Nuke using some generic drone footage from YouTube.

The umbrella scene is a large photographic print with integrated 3D renders. It was printed at 22x34 inches. Composited in Nuke.

The last scene is a visualization of a fountain for East Tennessee State University. The original footage was very shaky, so the 5K Red Epic plates were stabilized and matchmoved in Syntheyes The fountain was modeled and rendered in Maya, with compositing done in Nuke..
