0:00 – 1:05 Character project 'Scorpia Ry': For the character I used 3ds Max. The textures (diffuse, normal, specular and glossy map) are made in Photoshop and NDo (normal map). Renderings are made in Mental Ray.
The assignment was based on a self-portrait. I chose the option to create a own designed character out of me. The challenge was to use only 3000 polygons without using transfermaps.
1:05 - 3:12 Environment project 'Empire State Plaza' (in collaboration with Roland Sutter): The renderings below show mainly the building (Cultural Education Centre) that I made in Maya. The textures for this building, the street and the parks (diffuse, bump and specular map) are made in Photoshop. We both made the trees that are visible in the renderings (for the animation we used royalty free tree models). Renderings are made in Mental Ray.
Our aim was to use the existing 'Empire State Plaza' as a reference to create an authentically appearing environment with utopian aspects in it.
