Project Rain

Darik Smith,
Canada,  Oakville Sheridan College,  Bachelor of Animation,  May 01, 2015
Project Rain was developed by Darik Smith during the fourth year of Sheridan's animation program. Inspiration came from the local Toronto distillery district, Film Noir and other classic movie genres of the 1930s . In this dark world, monsters roam the streets at night and rookie detective Catherine Collins is investigating their mysterious appearance. To make matters worse a local mafia has taken advantage of the situation to expand their exploitative business, but can they pose a greater threat than the monsters?

Darik Smith is an aspiring environment artist who learned video game development in his spare time. Taught traditional hand drawn animation in the first half of school and transitioning exclusively into 3D work the second half, Darik focuses more on the modeling and design aspects of production. After graduating he hopes to continue developing games with teams of developers and is looking for career opportunities in North America.
