Grave Mistakes is an action adventure game that starts when a spirit is awoken from death into a spirit world controlled by voodoo gods. The graveyard itself is controlled by a god known as The Baron, who controls all of the dead within the graveyard. However, another god, Samedi, has managed to snatch a single spirit away from the Baron's grasp, in the hopes of ending the Baron's tyranny of the after life.

The player controls this spirit, who, with little left to lose, agrees to help Samedi defeat the Baron and free the souls of the dead. The player must learn abilities along the journey to the Baron to help them defeat the ancient god.

This video shows off the core gameplay and features of Grave Mistakes. Grave Mistakes is a video game created in Unreal Engine 4, combining assets created in many different programs to craft a complex and coordinated gameplay experience.

Modeling: Models were made using Zbrush, Maya, Topogun, and UV Layout Pro.

Texturing: Photoshop, Mari, and Zbrush were used to create textures. Materials were then created in the Unreal Engine's Material Editor.

HUD: The HUD was created using Photoshop.

Rigging and Animation: The main character and the enemy characters were rigged and animated in maya using the Unreal Animating and Rigging Toolkit. Animations were then tweaked in engine with Persona.

Particle Effects: Particle effects were created using Houdini and assembled and tweaked in Unreal's Cascade.

Sound: Music and sound effects were created using Protools and Audacity.

The CG Student Awards - People's Choice Award is open to all entrants. This prestigous category is voted by the general public, not the judging panel. It gives everyone a voice, and allows for an open discussion of all the amazing entries submitted to the Awards.
