My name is Alfonso,
I come from Italy where I worked as director for almost 9 years for commercials, short flims and Features as an Assistant Director.
I always had a passion for VFX too and my biggest inspiration is Georges Méliès:; an artist who was able to combine his great talent as a storyteller, his passion for Magic (I’m an illusionist too) and his unique surreal vision supported by the creation of the first VFX in the history of cinema.
A love story, characterized by pain and an insurmountable distance. One that takes place in the dimmest hours of the night and for only the briefest moment. Two mannequins, trapped in opposite store fronts, have one minute every night to come alive and live their sad love story.
La rosa negra it's a metaphor of one of my personal experiences; It’s a short movie about the feelings, the pain and the love involved in a long distance relationship revisited by the point of view of two mannequins who live in two opposite shops in Gastown; every night they magically come alive and they have one minute to live their distant love.
I spent 6 months working on this project as my final project of the 3D program at the Vancouver Film School. My first step was to decide how to create all the visual element and wich technique I was going to use. After that I had to struggle with texture, shading and lighting, in orther to achieve the stylized and correct mood that I was thinking for my shortmovie.
