Kia Rex

Yandong Qiu,
United States,  New York City School of Visual Arts,  Computer Art,  May 01, 2014
Kia. a two year old boy, is swept away by his imagination. After chasing after his favorite toy he envisions a world filled with dinosaurs and adventure.
The way to perceive the world varies between a child and an adult. In children's eyes, instead of seeing all the shading details, there are only shapes and the relationship between them. This kind of abstraction is a gift; a gift allowing them to connect anything sharing the same shapes together, which leads to wild imagination and unbelievable creativity. As visual artist, I am seeking a way to behold the world from children's perspective. This animation “Kia Rex” is my vehicle to do so.

I use Maya for most of my animation. Compositing and matte painting are done in Nuke. I did my texturing using Photoshop and Mudbox. And UV is done in Zbrush.
