Florent Arnould,
France,  valenciennes Supinfocom,  digital director,  June 25, 2015
This is an (approximately) 1 minute short film I made alone during my 4th year at supinfocom.
It tells the story of a worker, repairing a wall.. Some day, there is a leak in this wall, which will show him what is beyond this construction and his monotonous life.
Through this short film I had the opportunity the develop my animation and rigging skills more than anything else. In fact, the arm which have his own will was a real challenge in terms of animation.

The film was mostly made in 3dsmax.
For the simulations, I used Rayfire and Pflow for the debris, and Thinkbox Frost for the fluids of the arm.
For the arm, I had several types of meshes. One just for the animation, and one for the simulation. Particles were simulated on the second mesh, and then remeshed with frost.
I scripted a system which allowed me to switch easily from one to another system.
The smoke is a simple particle system with particles facing the camera.

The compositing was made in nuke. For the arm, I had to recompose all the passes in nuke, to have more control on the glowing effect.
